MAIMEE HAS AN ADOPTION PENDING AND WE ARE SCHEDULING A SLEEPOVER! ^
UPDATE: Maimee continues to blossom and grow in an environment safe from harm and she is really starting to show her happy self in her foster home. Her foster mom says that there are still times when she calls Maimee and she starts to come with tail wagging, but half way she stops, runs back and they start over. Maimee does better if her foster mom calls her and then turns away from her or sits down, allowing Maimee to come to her on her own. This is the joys of fostering a rescue... seeing them grow past the fear and the harm they have experienced and come to trust and love. Maimee is doing great and she has plenty of times where she is totally relaxed with her humans - napping on the bed with mom or watching tv on the couch with dad.
NEW ARRIVAL: What a gentle beagle girl MAIMEE is!! She is a little bit timid and submissive for now but so willing to wag her tail and make friends. She has just arrived at her foster home and so far is doing very well with all the other dogs in the home. We will share more about her personality and temperament as she settles in. MAIMEE did test positive for heartworms and she has been treated and also spayed.

UPDATE: Our little Maimee is making some progress now and gradually getting over her shyness and fearfulness, but she still has a ways to go. She loves the safety of her crate but her foster parents have gradually moved her little haven from a bathroom to a hallway and have also taken the lid off the crate so they can give her some loving when they walk past. Maimee now understands "outside" and will come out of the crate and down the stairs if shown her leash - of course the other sweet little senior beagle in the household helps her along! When Maimee is outside, her foster mom can see what a happy, waggy girl she can be with her tail and ears up and a great Beagle smile! Maimee is still a bit jumpy and nervous, but not terrified. In fact, she's curious to meet other dogs as long as they are polite, and Maimee has met some of the neighbors as well. Potty training is going great and Maimee has not had any accidents. Foster mom plans soon to move her crate out to the living room as Maimiee will often peek out to see what the family is doing. We are very encouraged with her progress so far and hope that soon this sweet, gentle beagle girl will trust that she is safe and loved.
