08/02/13 UPDATE: All the information below is still very true about this special girl! She is calm and well mannered, but she is beginning to be a bit more comfortable in her new foster home. She loves her humans, does just fine with the other dogs and gives the cat wide berth. ALIZA doesn't seem to really understand play yet, but she's coming along and may eventually get the hang of it. She does love her crate but is happy to come out with her foster mom and hang out in the yard as well. ALIZA definitely has a quiet and gentle disposition, but it took being in a safe and loving place to bring her engaging personality out - and she is just a lovely dog!  

ALIZA,  whose name means "joyful", is a sweet Beagle girl from Louisiana.  ALIZA seems pretty calm for her age and does very well with other dogs.  She seems a little cautious when meeting new people, but warmed up to me after a few treats.  ALIZA is all Beagle with her nose to the ground while keeping her eye on every move you make - just in case you have a treat. In the house and at meal times ALIZA has shown good manners. She did not jump on the furniture (even though it would have been okay) and so far she is very quiet. She likes time in her crate and does fairly well walking on a leash. ALIZA is going to make a great addition to some family!

ALIZA did test positive for heartworms and will be treated very soon.
