Ope's owner died and the family just took and dropped him at animal control. While he is a Beagle/Basset mix and bigger then a standard Beagle, Ope definately has "beagle brain".
At the dog park Ope just gets along with all the other dogs and loves to run and play. He is more then willing to interact with humans, giving his paw, hoping for a treat, but accepting a pat on his head. On a walk Ope has that nose to the ground but will follow your lead. However, if Ope does spot a squirrel or rabbit he will pull you toward his goal. This is no doubt a Basset trait! In the house, Ope was more then willing to curl up on a blanket while I took some of some Beagle Rescue business on the computer and telephone. Ope's foster home is filled with other dogs and children and he and a 7 year old boy have turned into the best of friends.
So if you have an active family and want a great pet don't miss a chance to meet Ope!
