ADOPTION PENDING

Cheese was found at a rest stop off I-95 in Georgia. He had clearly been on his own for quite some time. Kind people took him to a vet and then he spent a little time in the animal shelter waiting to see if anyone might be looking for him. His microchip was registered as "beagle pup #2". The shelter called the owner, a breeder who said they had not seen the dog since they sold him a few years back. So... now Cheese is settled into his SEBR foster home and doing very well indeed. He is living with another dog and several cats and gets along well with everyone. Cheese adores toys and loves to put things in his mouth but not necessarily chew on them. He loves to relocate things and it makes his foster mom laugh. On his first day he came trotting into the kitchen dragging the spare bedroom rug like he'd won the lottery. Cheese isn't terribly food motivated but is certainly praise motivated and submissive to people. His foster mom is teaching him sit and some other basic house manners, but his house training is great. In his current foster home Cheese is allowed on the furniture and he likes to sleep on the bed or on the couch. He's very social and really wants to be with his people. He loves cuddles but is not a kisser. Cheese is a pretty quiet dog, takes treats nicely and doesn't scarf down his food. He does need daily exercise and is good on a leash, but he can sometimes pull if he catches a scent. Cheese can be mischievous if bored so we do recommend crating him when he can't be supervised or he's home alone. Cheese is heartworm positive but his treatment is scheduled for the first week of July. He should be ready to go on a sleepover a few weeks after that.
