WILFRED IS ON A SLEEPOVER WITH A POTENTIAL ADOPTER!
UPDATE 07/07/13: Wilfred is one smart little dog! He has mastered his potty training (although in a new home he may need a refresher course), he has learned to use the dog door, and he can follow the commands sit, stay and go to bed! He's filled out and is no longer a skinny Beagle but sleek, shiny one. Wilfred has also started to exhibit puppy-like playfulness with the other dogs in his foster home and has a great time with toys. Wilfred is all Beagle when it comes to food and would like to eat everything in sight - so his foster parents are working on training good behavior. So far, Wilfred appears to be very quiet and his foster mom says she doesn't think she has heard him bark at all!!
UPDATE 6/23/13: Wilfred is doing really great in his new foster home but it's almost like he can't believe he won the lottery! He is very loving and enjoys his new canine friends as much as the people in his new life - and he's not partial either - he's happy to follow dad around as much as mom! He is still a little shy and working on learning his new routine and he doesn't mind being in his crate - he sleeps there at night and when the family leaves home. Wilfred is showing a really nice temperament and disposition and he's been rather quiet so far, but when it comes to food,Wilfred is one excited and happy beagle!
WILFRED is one of 6 Beagles that came to us from a rural shelter in Louisiana, where they had little chance of being adopted or saved. They were all dropped off in the overnight box at the shelter by their owner without any reason why. WILFRED and his Beagle friends all seem happy and friendly little hounds, just as Beagles are bound to be. We shall find out about WILFRED's personality after he spends a little more time in his foster home.
