ADOPTION PENDING

1/9/23 - update.  Fonzie's foster parents couldn't say enough about this magnificant Beagle.  He's ALL PUPPY!  He's super happy and super great.  He loves to play and snuggle.  He's teachable and almost too food motivated - he can be obssessed with food at times.  He is doing better in the crate.  He barks for about 20 minutes and then settles in the crate when left alone.  When he's crated overnight, he does great - no accidents and settles well.  Like every puppy known to mankind, he likes to chew.  He's responding well to "no" and substituting a towel or cloth that he likes with a puppy chew toy.  He's eager to learn.  He's doing well with house training because the foster parents have a structured schedule for his outside potty time and are able to monitor to make sure he goes potty and doesn't get distracted.  He doesn't mind being picked up and loves attention/pets but he can be a bit squirmy when picked up.  He takes cues from the resident Beagles for backing off when his energy is too much for them.  Because he's a bit loud at times, his new home probably shouldn't have shared walls with other families.  He would love to have another canine in the home who enjoys playing.  When he's walking on the leash, he thinks it's play time and chew time and he's getting better.  He just loves to play and has a lot of energy throughout the day.  He is allowed on the foster home furniture and does well with that privlege.  He would do best in a fenced in/Beagle proof yard.  He responds well to "no" and redirection when he starts to dig in the yard.  Enrichment activities for him are essential to his energy level.

This handsome hunk was picked up on a busy road in Alabama by a vet tech - what good fortune! After two weeks of looking for his owner he was unclaimed, but SouthEast Beagle Rescue was contacted - what good fortune! The next transport coming to Florida was packed full and no room for Fonzie, but the shelter directer got him a ride with a rescue pilot - further good fortune!  If you adopt him, Fonzie will definitely have much more good fortune in store for him. With other dogs, Fonzie is playful yet polite and he loves toys.  He enjoys sniffing outside in the yard and snuggling inside on the couch.  Fonzie may still have some puppy energy, but he sleeps well in his crate at night. He has not had much training but he is very food motivated. Icing on the beagle cake - Fonzie is heartworm negative so he just needs to be neutered and he will be ready for a sleepover with you!
